These days, there’s a lot of mistreatment that goes on amongst people. You have disrespect and demeaning behaviors going on between employees and employers, rich and poor, men and women, believers and non-believers, disabled and able-bodied, generations and “races”. It has grieved me to see how much hate goes on in the world, but it saddens me more to see how much goes on in the Christian community.
I can understand being upset by inconsideration of the things you like, but we must realize that as Christians, we have more to live for than this Earth has to offer. Furthermore, our identities are so much more than our “race”, job, gender, country or wealth.
Genesis 1:27 says that we are all created in the image of God. There’s no reason nor room for discrimination in the body of Christ. That doesn’t mean we accept all behaviors, but we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. We can hate sin without hating our brothers and sisters. It’s important to stand for truth, but it’s even more important to do so with love.
On this “day of love” let us choose to show the greatest love known in this universe, the Love of God. If we are to be known as disciples of Christ, let’s love wholly.
